Causes of the American Revolution
Intellectual causes
Enlightenment philosophers
It was centered around the idea that reason is the primary source of authority and legitimacy
The Enlightenment, a philosophical movement that dominated in Europe during the 18th century
The five core beliefs : happiness, reason, nature, progress, and liberty. By using logical thinking and reasoning the philosophers analyzed truth in the world.
Thomas Jefferson
Jefferson infused his most famous political writing the Declaration of Independence with many Enlightenment ideas.
Most famously the idea that all Americans were entitled to the rights of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
He influenced by John Loke. Many believe much of the most memorable language of the Declaration of Independence is derived from Locke's works.
Thomas Paine
Thomas Paine was an England-born political philosopher and writer who supported revolutionary causes in America and Europe.
He wrote pieces such as The Rights of Man, Letter to George Washington, and The Age of Reason. Thomas Paine encouraged free thinking and standing up for one's beliefs.

The Stamp Act
They put a stamp on them so the British can gain some extra money
The Stamp act was the taxing by the British on all paper
The colonist started to rebel and the British stopped with the taxes on paper
The Sugar Act
The colonist started to boycott British good such as tea
The British put down the taxes after the Boston tea party.
The British started to tax sugar and mayalsis
The Boston Tea Party was the Sons of liberty dressing us as mowhak indians and dumping tea in the Boston harbor worth around $1 million today
Political causes of the American
The American Revolution was principally caused by colonial opposition to British attempts to impose greater control over the colonies and to make them repay the crown for its defense of them during the French and Indian War 1754s.
Main Causes : The founding of Colonies French and Indian War, Protests in Boston, and growing Unity Among the Colonies.
The Navigation Acts
Triangular Trade
The export of raw materials from the colonies to Britain, the transportation of enslaved Africans to the Americas, and the subsequent importation of manufactured goods from Britain to the colonies.
Mercantilism
Mercantilism was an economic theory that encouraged government regulation of the economy for the purpose of enhancing state power. The primary goal was to run trade surpluses and thereby fill the state's coffers with silver and gold.
