Question 4: In your understanding, what makes scientific knowledge different from other types of knowledge?
-
Reliance on empirical data makes it different from an AOK such as history wherein much of the information collected is from secondhand accounts
The purpose of scientific knowledge differs from an AOK such as the arts. We often seek scientific knowledge to understand the universe and it's natural laws such as in physics or chemistry while an area like human sciences seeks to understand human behavior
Question 3: Where is the boundary particularly clear, wiggly, dotted or blurry? Describe what it means and why drawn or imagined it this way.
Between religion and the natural sciences, the boundary is very clear since the two AOKs take very different approaches in explaining their theories
Between mathematics and the natural sciences, however, the boundary is slightly blurrier since the two AOKs—although they explore different subject areas—have similar methodologies, making the the subtle differences harder to separate
