Nutritional requirements
Energy:elevated 10% required in asymptomatic HIV patient(40-83kcal/day), 20-30% in Symptomatic px
Protein:normal, @ 0.8g/kg body weight(10% in infections , NB! resistance training

Fat:Heart health guidelines , omega 3 improve elevated triglycerides
Route of nutrition
4 routes:Oral diet based on food, supplementation with macro& micro nutrients, enteral nutrition through nasogastric tubes, parenteral feeding>infusing a specialized form of food through a vein (intravenously)

Micronutrients: Benefit with repletion>low micronutrient>100 RDA supplementation>Mega-dosing with Vit & Zn=detrimental>Selium & Vit D=delay HIV progression>anaemia investigation
Dietary therapy
Nutritional education , counseling, diet manipulatiion
Healthy diet=low saturated fat, high/rich in healthy fats ,whole grains, Fruit & veg,,refined carbs, salt
