Bilingual education
Four types
- Transitional bilingualism in which first language is used only to facilitate the transition to the second (oficial) language.
- Mono-literate bilingualism where the school uses two languages for most of its activities but uses only one language (the second language) to introduce literacy skills.
- Prtial biliterate bilinguism in which both languages are used for all four languages skills, but in which academic subjects are divided in such a way that the first language is used for cultural subjects such as arts, folklore, history and the second language is used for technical subjects such as science and economics.
- Total bi-literate bilinguism in which all language skills are developed in both languages in all domains.
