Spiderman (2002) - Sam Raimi
Context
When the movie was released the Super Hero genre wasn't in a good position.
The Movie had a lack of modern technology and opted for older technology instead for nostalgic purposes. The technology was also used as a way to get older fans of spider-man as a way to show how they might of envisioned the character.
A year before the movie was released 9/11 happened and it impacted the movie as they had to remove scenes that had the twin towers in it. Also, this movie can be seen as a beacon of hope for New York showing that their hero spider-man is back and the New Yorkers in the movie are there for him.
Characterisation of Peter Parker
How does he view his powers?
He first views his powers as a way to earn money and fame but after uncle ben's death, he now views his powers as a tool or a way to do good in the world and help people out. Spider-Man overall views his powers as both a gift in that he can help and save people, but also as a curse on Peter Parker as he has to sacrifice so much in order to be spider-man. A win for Spider-Man is a loss for Peter Parker.
What growth does he undergo in the movie?
What makes him unique from other interpretations?

How does our hero interact with the setting?
