Allow virtual appointment scheduling
allow customers to pre-book their appointment slots instead of walking-in which might increase waiting time
ex: online appointment booking, phone call booking
Increase employees
more employees means more hands to handle customers. More employees, better efficiency, waiting time can be reduced
Provide virtual queuing
ex: provide virtual tickets/ virtual tracking of their appointment turn
customers can wait anywhere they want and will be notified when appointment is reaching
Do surveys
to find out which areas/services can be improved to reduce waiting time
ex: casually ask customers, include a section in any compulsory forms to be filled
Invest in entertainment
by providing such service, customers are not merely waiting for their appointment, but they are doing something they like
ex: magazine table, coffee machine, TV, game boards
Use a fair queuing system
first in, first out
ex: use a automatic ticketing system to ease this process
Know your service level target
by doing this, you will find the right balance to deliver better service
ex: customers/calls/orders etc, should be attended to within a predefined time limit
Multi-service queues
staff can attend to customers who have different needs without having to switch counters
ex: by creating different counters/staffs to attend specific needs/demands
