Assessments
Danyi, Mark, Rainier, & Yanli, EXAMPLES - Coggle Diagram
Criterion Assessments
These measure against a standard level of achievement. These are test like the IELTS, TOEFL, some advanced placement tests, driving tests, software/hardware certification exams: any test that indicate a level of mastery of a subject matter, or minimum required score to have passed the exam.
Domain Assessments assess a narrow subject set.
Norm Referenced
These assessments measure against peer assessments and produce scores in percentiles. For example if you measured the 5th best score out of ten, you'd be in the 50th percentile. Various state high school exams, SAT, GRE, GMAT and others measure your score against a sample of peer assessments.
Assessments provide an opportunity to measure learning & an opportunity to guide learning. There are summative, formative, ipsative, diagnostic, norm-referenced, criterion-referenced assessments or domain assessments. They all contribute in different ways to learning.

Danyi Zhang Summative Assessments: Summative assessments are used to evaluate learning and understanding at the end of the instructional period. These could come at the end of an unit, period, and or term. Summative assessments are always graded where as a formative does not have to be graded but used as an evaluation tool. A summative should be used in conjunction with a formative.
