Indicadores de gestion
what is it?
A management indicator is the quantitative expression of the behavior and performance of a process, the magnitude of which, when compared with some reference level, may be indicating a deviation on which corrective or preventive actions are taken depending on the case.
Benefits
-
Identifying priorities for a company sets the standard for performance. To the extent that customer satisfaction is a priority for the company, it will communicate this to its staff and link the strategies with the management indicators, so that the staff is directed in this direction and the desired results are achieved.
-
Continuous improvement is only possible if each link in the chain that makes up the process is closely monitored. Measurements are the basic tools not only to detect improvement opportunities, but also to implement actions.
-
If an organization intends to improve its processes, a good alternative is to cross its borders and know the environment to learn and implement what has been learned. One way to achieve this is through benchmarking to evaluate products, processes and activities and compare them with those of another company. This practice is easier if you have the implementation of the indicators as a reference.
-
An adequate measurement system allows people to know their contribution to organizational goals and what are the results that support the claim that they are doing well.
Characteristics
-
It can be defined as the ability to define the event to be measured, in a way that is inexpensive in time and resources.
-
Understood as the ease of the measure to fully describe the phenomenon or effect. It should reflect the magnitude of the event analyzed and show the actual deviation from the desired level.
-
-
-
It is the ability to be involved from the design, and the necessary resources and training must be provided for its execution. This is perhaps the fundamental ingredient for staff to motivate themselves around meeting the indicators.
-
It is the possibility of the indicator to always be oriented to look for the causes that have led it to reach a particular value and to improve them.
-
Understood as the ability for data to be collected on time. It also requires that the information be analyzed in a timely manner in order to act.
