Causes
Bonaparte formed an alliance with Spain and plotted to invade Britain
Nelson's job was to prevent the enemy ships from reaching England
French Admiral Villeneuve managed to evade Nelson
They met at Cape Trafalgar, 21th October 1805

Huge naval success - 22 ships captured
Threat of invasion gone
Britain dominant in the seas until WWI

The Napoleonic wars still continued
Nelson was dead, an inspirational hero
