Comparative and Superlative Adjectives
Adjectives comparative
Its structure is: Subject + verb + adjective in comparative degree + that + another object.
Comparative adjectives are used to compare differences between the two objects that it modifies (larger, smaller, faster, higher).
As its name implies, we use the comparative in English to compare two objects or people.
EXAMPLES
This box is smaller than the one I lost.
Your dog runs faster than Jim's dog.
My house is bigger than hers.
Adjectives superlative
Its structure is: Subject + verb + the + adjective in superlative degree + object.
Superlative adjectives are used to describe an object that is at the highest or lowest end of a quality (the tallest, the smallest, the fastest, the highest).
The superlative in English is used to highlight a characteristic of an object, person or animal, which makes it different from the rest of the group in which it is found.
EXAMPLES:
This is the smallest box I've ever seen.
Your dog was the fastest of the race.
My house is the largest one in our neighborhood.
