Geothermal energy
-
What is it?
It is made up of two words, Geo and Thermal, it is called this because it is the energy obtained from the heat found beneath the earth’s crust all the way down to magma.
What countries use it the most?
Iceland accounts for the biggest share of Geothermal energy in the world:
“Unlike the other countries in the Nordic region, Iceland’s electricity grid is isolated. Most small island economies rely on oil-fired power plants to provide steady electricity supply, but Iceland has virtually 100% renewable electricity from its abundant hydropower and geothermal resources.”

Daily Uses
Geothermal energy is used for heating up our water, producing the electricity we use and also many other commercial uses such as heating up fish farms.
This energy produces the electricity that we use daily, it is also estimated that it produces 8.3% of the world’s total electricity and hence it is used by families all across the world.
