Upper Extremity - Coggle Diagram
Upper Extremity
Forearm: muscles, innervations
Anterior compartment
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Pronator quadratus
-
-
-
A: pronates forearm, deep fibers bind radius and ulna together
Posterior compartment
Brachioradialis
-
-
-
A: relatively weak flexion of forearm, maximal when forearm is in midpronated position
-
-
Extensor digitorum (ED)
-
-
-
A: extends medial four digits at MCP joints, secondarily at IP joint
-
-
Supinator
O: lateral epicondyle of humerus, radial collateral and annular ligaments, supinator fossa, crest of ulna
I: lateral, posterior, and anterior surfaces of proximal 1/3 of radius
-
A: supinates forearm, rotates radius to turn palm anteriorly or superiorly
Extensor Indicis
-
-
-
A: extends 2nd digit (independent extension), helps extend hand at wrist
-
-
-
Arm: muscles, innervations
-
Posterior compartment
-
Anconeus
-
I: lateral surface of olecranon, superior part of posterior ulna
-
Assists in elbow extension, stabilizes forearm, may abduct ulna during pronation
Quadrangular space contents: axillary nerve, posterior humeral circumflex artery
-
Triangular interval contents: radial nerve, profunda brachii artery
Cubital fossa
BOUNDARIES -- Medial: brachioradialis; lateral: pronator teres; floor: supinator and brachialis; roof: bicipital aponeurosis
CONTENTS -- radial nerve, biceps tendon, brachial artery, median nerve
