Physics
- The Big Bang (14ish billion years ago)
An explosion? A collision?
resulted in space and the concept of time
What?
Billion years on: Hydrogens come together with gravitational force they keep coming together until they fused and light was produced
the first 0.01 seconds: electrons, quarks
100,000 years - Hydrogen
then 100 seconds - Neutrons
Evidence
Cosmic background microwave radiation
Gamma radiation
Became microwave radiation as it moved through space
Red shift
spreading out - suggests there must have been an origin
where waves move throughout space and shift to the red end of the
Electromagnetic spectrum
Radio
Microwave
Infra red
Ultra violet
Visibal light
Red
Longest wavelength
Orange
Yellow
Green
Blue
Indigo
Violet
Shortest wavelength
X-ray
Gamma ray
Doppler effect
When an ambulance gets close to us the sound waves are becoming compressed and as the ambulance gets further away the sound waves stretch
The big yawn
If there is not enough mass than it will keep accelerating away and everything will spread out
The big crunch
If there is enough mass than everything will come back together again
Physics
- Circular motion
changed velocity but kept the same speed (the direction kept changing but the speed was constant)
Centripetal force
Gravity (gravitational pull)
Escape velocity - slingshot
The moon is slowly escaping :/
Physics
- Stars and all that
Prostar
Cloud of hydrogen
fusion
Helium
Main sequence star
- gravity pushed down
Small stars
- 1. When they run out of hydrogen it will collapse
Red
giant
(element up to number 26 will form - ion)
white dwarf
white dwarf will cool to form a
black dwarf
Big stars
- hydrogen runs out gravity pulls everything together and it collapses
Forms a
red supergiant
- everything fuses together
When it collapses this time a
supernova
is created - everything larger than ion (all of the elements) can be formed due to the large forces of this event
Becomes a
Neutron star
Or becomes a
black hole
