A CLOSED SYSTEM is a system where matter and energy cannot enter or leave.
An OPEN SYSTEM is where energy can be transferred between the system and its surroundings
Energy Transfer depends on POWER.
Power is the RATE of energy transfer.
Higher POWER rating means more energy is tranferred per second.
Electrical appliances often have power ratings.
ENERGY TRANFERRED electrically is calculated by: E = P x T
Energy transferred (J) = power (W) x time (s)
Energy can be given in JOULES or WATTS or KWH
1KWH = 3,600,000 J.

The less energy wasted the more efficient it is.

Efficifency will increse by reducing unwanted energy transfers

Advantages of Non Renewable: They are reliable and there is enough on the earth to meet current demand
Disadvantages of Non Renewable: They damage the environment and the fossil fuels release green house gasses , the Uranium/plutonium produce harmful radioactive waste which is dangerous and difficult to dispose of
