Legal Foundation of the Ecuadorian Educational System
The main legal basis for education in Ecuador is the National Constitution, which establishes all the precepts in educational matters within the framework of the rule of law. Other important laws are:
-The National Plan for Good Living
-Organic Law of Higher Education
-Organic Law of Intercultural Education
-Organic Law of Intercultural Education (LOEI) and its Regulations.
An instrument with operational validity and the result of the National Government's policy for the promotion and development of Public Education in Ecuador is the Ten-Year Education Plan.

Levels
Initial Education
Begins when the child is less than 5 years old.
Children of this age naturally seek to explore, experiment, play and create, activities that they do through interaction with others.
It is the process of accompanying the integral development of children.
Its objective is to enhance their learning and promote their wellbeing through meaningful and timely experiences.
To allow children to play independently according to their interests and with as much control as possible.
Basic Education
Its objective is to develop the capacities, abilities, skills and competencies of children and adolescents from the age of 5 until they continue their high school studies.
Evaluation, on the other hand, is intended to be permanent, systematic and scientific, and its purpose is to diagnose the student's learning situation and achieve improvements in his or her training.
If a student in the eighth grade of General Basic Education does not achieve an average of 7 between the two quarters, he/she must repeat the year.
The educational system promotes the automation of processes; therefore, students who pass the 4 sub-levels.
High School
Its purpose is to offer a better educational service for all young people who have passed the General Basic Education.
They must study a group of core subjects called the common core, which allows them to acquire certain basic knowledge corresponding to their general education.
The General Unified Baccalaureate level is organized by areas of knowledge.

For Initial Education and High School sub-level
:
Students in the Initial Education level and in the Preparatory sub-level will be automatically promoted to the following year.
For Elementary Basic, Middle Basic, Higher Basic and Baccalaureate levels
To the next grade requires an average grade of seven out of ten (7/10) in all the subjects of the different areas of the national curriculum
The certificate of having passed the EGB to students at the end of the tenth grade
The Degree Certificate to third year high school students who have passed the degree written exams.
