ALTERNATIVE: In the alternative narrative friendships come and go and not all of them are beneficial to the person. Some are short, some are long, some stay together, some drift, some have a huge falling out, there isn’t a straight cut friendship. Romantic relationships are much more complex, many people don’t look for long term commitment or emotional attachment and are instead looking to fill sexual desires. Many people don’t form commitments but instead have hookups. A couple could be together their whole life without marriage and children or they could be together for a while have children then divorce, or even split without ever even marrying. The commitment might even involve more than two people and involve a lot of arguing and even unhappy and violent circumstances. Finally an alternative narrative expunges the idea of a perfect family. Parents could be divorced with the children separated, there could be many more then 3 children. The children could have been the product of an affair, or wedlock or they could have been adopted or fostered. Their might be only one parent or there might be more then 2 and the family could be very problematic and not benefit anyone. The parents may be two men, two women, a man or a woman or anything. The alternative narrative is not necessarily bad but rather the reality of life. Oh also, family is usually interpreted as sharing blood but really family can just be your friends.
