YDPA on the advice of the PM appoint other ministers among the members of either House of Parliament

Discuss the government policy – if does not agree with government policies, must resign to protect the position of other Minister

Parliament is elected for a maximum period of 5 years & it stands dissolved by operation of law at the end of that period calculated from the date of its last meeting
It may be sooner dissolved on the advise of the PM though the YDPA may exercise his discretion in the decision
On dissolution, all seats of the HOR become vacant & in effect a general election is conducted for the purpose of selecting members to the HOR
By constitutional requirement, a general election must be held within 60 days from the date at dissolution & the new parliament summoned to meet not later than 120 days from that date except of course in extraordinary circumstances
