The Seven Grandfather teachings are spread today through oral tradition as elders continue to tell the story of the origins of the seven teachings; "Wisdom, Love, Respect, Bravery, Honesty, Humility, and Truth." (Manitowabi, 2018, p. Chapter 6). The seven teachings act as guidelines of Indigenous Spirituality, forming a moral understanding that the seven teachings (when followed) will result in a peaceful world. #3
Seeing as the Great Spirit/ Creator is understood to inhabit all natural beings, it is also understood that the Grandfather Teachings should be demonstrated upon all wildlife, respecting nature as though everything is an embodiment of the Creator. Love and respect are held the highest in terms of importance seeing as one cannot truly offer respect without first loving creation as a whole. #4
The Great Spirit is understood to be a kind and generous deity, who takes care in creating and maintaining all of nature. With this belief that the Creator is a compassionate and caring being, the Indigenous people are also taught to live alongside the Creator, following the sacred teachings in order to live according to the life that the Creator intended, through eternal love and peace.#5
