When arrested the person is entitled to let someone know that they are in custody + they have the right to speak to a lawyer before and during the interview. The person must be informed about the nature of the offense.
The person is told they do not have to respond to questions. But if they mentions fails to mention something that they rely on in court, this could hurt the defense.

The job of the lawyer is to keep the clients best interests in mind. Ask for clarifications of questions. Question the relevance of a question. Advise the client not to answer.

Crime definition: Socially and morally unacceptably deemed actions that can change over time and depending on the context of the society, that often include the breach of criminal law
Attrition: The low percentage of crimes that are committed and convicted. Key cause if non-reporting.
CSEW - Crime Survey of England and Wales. Is done to gage how much crime is going on that is unreported, to gain a fuller picture.
