For me, I completely agree with the way technology is viewed as a mediator between humans and the world. I like this view. It makes sense. I interact and view the world, however I can use technology to interact with the world. I also agree that this mediation affects one’s interpretation of the world through the intrinsic effects of a mediated experience. However, is technology the only intermediary that mediates our interpretation and interactions with the world? Does not religion, philosophy, social structures, and other influences then also mediate our interactions with the world?
I also really like the idea that technology is a medium for us that helps us interact in and with the world. He also said that technology can alienate us, but it also allows us to experience and share new relations with the world. I think that when we talk about technology as a medium it helps move technology back into the "tool" category a little bit and a little out of the controlling category. Also, if technology is a medium, then we are in control of the new relations that we forge with the world. - Marissa
