4.1 Unit Sampels
1: Feedstock sampels
Raw material brought into plant by pipeline, tank car, rail car, ship and barge.
2: Finished Product
Tested for comparison with the manufacturing specifications.
3: Process Streams
Process streams must be tested for the parameters to ensure that section of the process is still within standard operating conditions (SOC).
4: Auxiliary Systems & Utilities
Auxiliary systems can be waste treatment and disposal systems, equipment lubricating.
5: Environmental
Common environmental sample:
-Water from plant (outfall)
-Scrubber gas

4.3 Sample Collection & Technician Health
Safety Precautions for Collecting Samples
i. Use the proper PPE for the job.
ii. Check the sample area for a source of ignition.
iii. Leave a vapor space above the liquid in the sample container.
iv. Stand upwind.
v. Label and identify all samples.
vi. Never use a leaking container.
vii. Carry samples in sample baskets.
