Ivan Pavlov's Theory of Classical Conditioning states that behaviors can be learned through association. This occurs when two unrelated stimuli are linked together to produce a new learned response.
Edward Thorndike's Law of Effect states that behaviors followed by a positive response are more likely to be repeated. Behaviors followed by a negative response are less likely to be repeated.
