Autumn 2021 family mailing
- ideas for adding value and giving it a substantial feel
Position it as an 'autumn bonanza'
Emphasise the abundance of activities, and things to do/learn (mirrored in the abundance of nature's harvest)
Use language and imagery to reflect this excess - basketfuls, armfuls, jam-packed, bursting with, crammed full etc
Biggest ever pack?
Provide everything kids need to explore autumn
Bigger contents eg large poster or colouring outline, a board game, a big spotting activity etc
Celebration of all things autumn
Colourful, vibrant, energetic
Busy spreads (but not cluttered), add to the feeling there is lots of value on each page
Celebratory, upbeat tone and feel
Striking autumn imagery
Tweak the booklet format
Change the number of pages
The middle pages open out to reveal a 4-pager - this could be a boardgame, a big colouring outline, a combined colouring/puzzle activity, a place for kids to record their autumn spots/adventures...
A different size/orientation
The back pages fold out to reveal a larger poster that can be detached from the booklet and put on the wall
Competition
A big, attractive prize, ideally from one of our corporate partners eg outdoor wear from Joules
A theme/challenge for all ages, or something can be adapted so it's suitable for all ages
Is it possible with ongoing juniper restrictions, eg concerning data?
Great way to add value, and it could act as a thank you for sticking with us throughout pandemic and juniper
A different outer
This would help the pack feel a bit different as soon as it lands through the letterbox
A different format eg wallet
A different size/shape
Change the look and feel so visually it seems different from previous mailings
Gold foil or embossing, or some other print technique to help build excitement before the pack is even opened
Create a pack that's bursting with items
More than one extra element - multiple items that are unexpected, not part of our usual pack format
Change the sticker sheet format/size, or include an extra standalone sticker. Eg a golden ‘Star Nature Detective’ or ‘Woodland warrior’ type sticker, to reward kids for their patience while they weren't getting mailings
This would make it instantly feel more substantial
Change the format/size of the letter - we won't have many (any?) Treehouse pics this time, so we'll probably need to rethink the letter for this pack anyway. Could we think about alternative formats, making it double up as another activity/tangible benefit?
