- - - - Behavioral Issues The HAS principal will administer a consequence which can range from a serious conversation with the student, detention, suspension, and expulsion. Students are given multiple opportunities to correct their behavior and many meetings will be had with the student, parents, teachers, and administration before expulsion will even be considered.
      - Academic Issues Parents of the student are notified and a meeting is held with principal, parents, and any pertinent teachers. During this meeting recommendations are made to the parents, such as getting the student after-school tutoring.
        
        IEP If the academic issues are severe enough, teachers and administration will create Individualized Education Plan for the student and parents are met with again to explain the IEP and get their consent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGYO9XWhI2Y
    - - Step 2. Evaluation Student is assessed by a trained professional to determine if they are in need of special education services.
        
        Step 3. Eligibility (Decision & Confirmation) Eligibilty is determined according to IDEA standards for a child with a disability. If the child meets the requirements, an IEP must be drafted.
        
        Step 4. IEP A meeting is held with the parents and an Individualized Education Plan is drafted.
        
        Step 5. Services Provided The IEP is carried out by the student's teachers and other special needs professionals. The administration monitors this throughout.
        
        Step 6. Progress (Measured & Reported) The student's progress or lack thereof is reviewed and reported.
        
        Step 7. IEP Reviewed An IEP team reviews and revises the student's IEP as needed.
