Lexical Word Classes
Verb
verbs do not describe doing, but being, or states, rather than processes and still other that describe events with no intentional action behind them.
non-finite/infinitive form; these forms -ing, -en, i-
they do not link to subject in a clear and did not establish the tense of the verb as either present of past
lexical verb that do not need an auxiliary verb in order to function in main clauses are known as finite forms. normally add -s to base forms, or -ed to the past tense.

intransitive verb ; not found in object, will occur in subject and predicator structures

Noun

countable nouns ; combinations of numbers, with indifinite article 'a', can be pluralized by the addition of morpheme,

There are also many nouns that seem to belong fundamentally to one or other subclass but can also used as though they belonged to the other class
Some nouns have a central mass or non-countable meaning, but are consistently associated with particular measurements or units
nouns can be defined morphologically for countable nouns (can take the plural suffix, though does not include all nouns)
The basic function is to be the 'head' of a noun phrase (can occur after a definite or indefinite article or a determiner)
Adverb
do not perform the most central roles in the clause and are often essential to the grammatical completeness

the adverbs ending in -ly are relatively easy to find but there are also adverbs, such as outside, instead, round and perhaps.
Adjective

gradable adjectives; comparative and superlative forms either by the addition of morphemes or by the insertion of adverbs
adjective (non-gradable) can be considered belong to groups; such as colour, material or nationality. non gradable are sometimes treated as gradable
two main functions of an adjective; as the premodifier to the head noun in a noun phrase & following an intensive verb as the complement of a clause
