The problem here is that in 2011, the national government through the national health department introduced national TB management plan, in which TBIC measures are key component of this plan. The government directed all healthcare facilities delivering TB care services to implement TBIC guidelines to control the TB epidemic in the country.

Since the inception of the national TBIC plan, very little is known about the factors that shape the implementation of TBIC measures in health care settings in Papua New Guinea

Conceptual Framework - Literature Review
This research is guided by two conceptual framework, (i) WHO TBIC guidelines and (Ii) socio-ecological model (SEM). The WHO TBIC guidelines include three categories: Administrative, environment, and respiratory control measures. Meanwhile, the SEM will explore factors shaping implementation of TBIC measures in rural hospital in Papua New Guinea.
Evidence/Logic
TB is a major public health problem worldwide. PNG has the highest prevalence of TB in the world. Recent studies clearly indicated that TBIC have effectively prevented the spread of TB among health workers, patients and local communities.
