Data Security
Confidentiality
-
-
If information is leaked, users may have their locations compromised, or could be profiled based on their favourite events
To combat this, the personal event list should be encrypted, and should not have any identifiying information
Additionally, users could use an account based system in order to further improve security of their information
Integrity
-
-
If false information is shown, users can be misled and
potentially be taken to incorrect locations and times
Additionally, businesses involved in the event will be affected as if false information is shown, they will receive less customers
In order to reduce the effects of this, the data set should either be checked on a regular basis, or have more stringent encryption/security on it, in order to dissuade potential attacks
Availability
Event information is stored online, and is controlled by a government agency
No personal information is able to be accessed through the data set, is only available locally on the application
If the availability of the data is compromised (DDOS attack), the information may not be available for use by the app, thereby not being able to be shown to any users
If the data is still able to be viewed, there is no guarantee that it is reliable information, potentially misinforming users
to combat this, the app should be able to verify if the data set is able to be accessed, and if not, this should be made known to the user
