Morphology
It looks the structure of words and how these are formed from smaller chunks of meaningful units called:
Morphemes
It is the smallest meaningful unit of a lenguage
Free morpheme
It is a simple word and therefore consist of one morpheme.
Bound morpheme
This morpheme must be attached to another morpheme. They are also called:
Affixes
Prefix
It is added to the front part of a word.
Suffix
It is added to the back of a word.
Grammatical category
It is a class of unit o features that share a common sets of caracteritics.
We have the next grammatical category:
Nouns:
denote entities (fast, Jorge, viking, etc).
Adjectives:
denote states (smart, quick, tall, etc).
Verbs:
denote actions (play, undertake, develop, etc).
Adverbs:
denote manner (badly, slowly, briefly, etc).
Prepositions:
denote time, place and movement (for, in, over, etc).
Word
It is the smallest independent unit of a lenguage
Simple word
Consist only of one morpheme. It means it dose not have internal structure.
Complex word
It has internal structure. It consist of two or more morphemes.
