Better to have him forward my email to Barry Cunliffe rather than me email out of the blue
Send photos of sherd with fabric division to supervisors
Perhaps take new photos at Bath again using phone to better illustrate it
Send pictures of iron microfossil pseudomorph to Maurice
Progress with chapter writing
Submit by end of tomorrow
Would be good to get underway on next chapter
Coal at Bath
ID black specks in mortar at Bath
Get in touch with Elizabeth about analysing some mortar from Bath samples
Mortar at Bath
Take pictures of a good example where both types of mortar are shown in situ and send to supervisors
Also ID whether black specks in mortar at Bath are coal or not
One should look mineral and the other not
John Ashurst who used to be at BU was a mortar expert and wrote a comprehensive textbook and his samples may still be at BU
Unclear how to differentiate between clay and moratr from burnt argillaceous limestone
Considerable potential for a post-doc incorporating unloved materials into a regional or national picture
With coal, stone and CBM almost got all components of a Roman building or bathhouse
Difficult to go urther as no timber evidence or charcoal
Stone roundhouses in Dorset/Somerset
Ham Hill
Ilchester oppidum used Ham stone in bank
Stone roundhouses in Purbeck papers
Unclear further evidence however
Exmoor may have good examples
Important as may indicate regional awareness of geologies before Romans
