Crystal structures of human NSDHL and development of its novel inhibitor
with the potential to suppress EGFR activity
-
What is NSDHL?
- NAD(P)-dependent steroid dehydrogenase-like (NSDHL)
- Localized endoplasmic reticulum membrane.
- NSDHL act on downstream pathway.
- Catalyzes NAD+-dependent oxidative decarboxylation of the C4 methyl groups of 4α-carboxysterols.
- Regulates the expression and signaling of EGFR(Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor)
What is EGFR?
- EGFR(Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor) is transmembrane protein.
- Overexpression cause wide variety of tumors.
- Interruption of EGFR signaling can prevent the growth of EGFR-expressing tumors.
- Erlotinib is a medication used to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and pancreatic cancer.
- It is a receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor, which acts on the EGFR.
