allowing the rain to do what it wants to do so basically letting the lifeless object be as it is
'silver liquid' has connotations of wealth, prosperity and release

Rain is calming to the poet also because it reminds him of his partner. He is explaining to his partner why the rain is so important to him and why they should like the rain as much as he does because he wants that interest to be shared between them so they can enjoy it together.
