Methodology
Qualitative Method - Unstructured interview (asking open-ended questions) is used on teachers and students.
The construction of the smart-desk will take approximately a year to be finished and will go through a few phases.
Phase 1 - The making of the design of the Smart-desk. In this phase, it will take two months to sketch the draft of the desk.
Phase 2 - The process of the construction of the desk will be carried out step by step according to the draft sketch. It will take 5 months to execute this phase.
Phase 3 - In this phase, testing process of the Smart-desk will take approximately 3 months in order to test the strengths/effectiveness and the weaknesses. This phase also allow the creator to make improvement.
Phase 4 - The improvement for the Smart-desk will be performed in this phase. this will take a month to do.
Problem Statement
Students spend 80% of their time using desk to study everyday.
Students have problems to concentrate during PdPc session.
Their pre-owned desks are not user-friendly and are not helpful during PdPc.
The price and the maintenance cost of buying or fixing the desks are high every year.
Conclusion
Teachers as facilitator in implementing PdPc in the classroom
There is interaction between teachers- student, student-student and student-materials
Smart-Desk is a very practical PdPc support media used to provide a more conducive environment to enable students to learn more comfortably in line with the 21st century learning style that is actively and holistically student-centered
Materials
Aluminum, metal and Wood. But the main material will be fully aluminum because it is light.
Cutting and drilling machine - Very important tools to cut all the materials and also make round holes or drive fasteners.
Rivets - Used to join metal pieces together.
Whiteboard - Functions as a tool for students to make notes.
Assessment
The table can be opened for use in group activities.
Pupils write notes and discussion using a whiteboard
Smart-Desk design with multiple functions and user-friendliness provides comfort to students
Teachers are satisfied to use this table as a group activity and discussion
