Types of Assessments
Formative
Definition: Formative Assessment is the process of evaluating evidence of student learning to receive immediate feedback on the instruction and use that to adjust future instruction. The focus is on monitoring the student's learning so improvements can be made.
One Minute Paper: At the end of the lesson, students will answer a question about the most surprising concept of the lesson.
3-2-1 Response: Students will be given a card to respond to 3 things they didn't know, 2 things that surprise them, and 1 think they want to do with their learning.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: interim assessments are a style of assessing knowledge by testing students at different intervals throughout the year. It is used for checking the students progress.
Chapter Test: Students completing a formal test on a focused chapter/section to check progress for future summative test.
Project: Students will complete a project, with a rubric to apply learning from a focused chapter/section.
Summative
Definition: Summative assessments evaluate a student's learning at the end of a unit or after a large chunk of learning. High-risk assessments as they are very formal and are normally a big project or final assessment.
Senior Recital: Student will need to perform a senior recital with performances of various works and demonstrating mastery of their craft.

Research Paper: Students must work through the researching process to develop a paper that thoroughly explains and proves their thesis.

Performance
Definition: Performance Assessments evaluate students by having them perform a task rather than having them answering questions. This shows how well they can apply their learning and knowledge.
Portfolio: Students will create a portfolio composed of their word throughout the unit/semester. They will need to provide evidence of their work for each topic/assignment completed.
Project: Students will complete a project showing the real life implementation of using tax rates and percent changes.
Diagnostic
Definition: Diagnostic assessments are used to pre-assess the knowledge and skills a student has as well as any strengths/weaknesses. This can help in tracking the growth of students and planning for their needs.
Error Analysis: Students will be given a question with work shown from a previous student and will determine if the process and answer is correct.
iReady Diagnostic Test: Students will complete the test in which the question difficulty will adjust depending on how the student is performing. At the end, the test will tell the teacher what grade-level the student performed at.
