Interim/Benchmark
Definiton: Assesments that test what exactly the students are retaining. Very similar to summative assesments.
End of Unit Test: These are seen the most often. These are the test given to students to review the last chunk of content learned. These are normally the 6/9 week benchmarks given by the district/state.
Starr: The benchmark of all benchmarks test your knowledge on the entire year.

Performance
Definiton: This is more of a hands on assesment. You aren't answering questions where as you are performing a task.
Act it out: Instead of having the students answer what is a summary on pen and paper you can have them act out a shorten version ( The summary) of the story or video they just watched.
Design: You can have you students design something instead of just answering the questions. EX. instead of asking the student to label an insect you can have them design their own and check their knowledge by seeing if their insect has all the correct parts.
Diagnostic
Definiton: Are used as pre-assesment to gain what knowledge a student holds as well as their strengths and weaknesses.
Graphic Organizers: GO's can set up the information perfect for your students. The most used on is a KWL in which the student fills out what they KNOW, what they WANT to know, and what they LEARNED.
Diagnostic Test: A little repetitive yes, However using Diagnostic test to see what your students know can help you plan lessons around their strength and ways to grow their weaknesses.
