Formative
Definition: This type of assessment is used to document and evaluate student knowledge and give data to the teachers that can help them improve instruction.
Exit slips:After the lesson, students will list one thing they learned and one question they still have about the topic.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Interim/Benchmark Assessment is a form of assessment that teachers use to evaluate where students are in their learning progress and verify whether they are on track to performing well on future assessments, such as standardized tests or end-of-course exams.
MAP Growth Assessments: MAP Growth is designed to measure student achievement in the moment and growth over time. Every student gets a unique set of test questions based on responses to previous questions.
STAAR: These assessments are designed to measure what students are learning in each grade and whether or not they are ready for the next grade. The goal is to ensure that all students receive what they need to be academically successful.
Summative

Diagnostic
Definition:Diagnostic tests evaluate students' understanding of a subject area. Teachers usually administer diagnostics for reading and math skills, using the results to provide remedial instruction or place students within appropriately leveled classes.
Running Records: Students will read a text at their appropriate reading level to help the teacher collect information about how the students read.
