Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Data driven tests given periodically throughout the year to determine whether the student is on track.

Example 2: STARR- State of Texas assessment given to measure the core standard curriculum for math, reading, science, social studies, and writing.
Performance
Definition: Students are able to apply their problem solving and knowledge skills rather than to select the right answer.
Example 1: Student Portfolio - A collection of work that displays a progression of many skills the student was able to do over a period of time.
Eaxmple 2: Research Paper- Students must be able to obtain certain skills, like being able to target creditable sources to complete the research.
Diagnostic
Definition: Evaluates what a student knows about the content prior to giving the lesson and planning. The instructor is able to differentiate the lesson based on the students strengthens and weakness to address any misconceptions.
Example 1: Pre-tests - Test given at the beginning of the lesson to evaluate each students areas of weakness and strengthens.
Example 2: Class discussion- Students orally have a class discussion so each student can chime in on what they know about a certain topic.
Formative
Definition: Provides ongoing feedback for both students and educators to help monitor the students learning. Allows the instructor to observe what is working and not working in the lesson so it can be altered to meet the needs of their student, while analyzing and targeting their areas of strengths and weaknesses.
Example 1: What Stuck With You? (exit ticket)- Students reflect on the day's learning and share what they wrote on a posit note among their peers before sticking it on the "What stuck" poster.
Example 2: DOL (Demonstration of Learning)- Students demonstrates that they have learned the learning objective.
Summative
Definition: A high stake end of the unit exam that evaluates and measures what the student has learned and compares their score to a standard or benchmark.
Example 1: Unit Project - A project that implement multiple steps to complete. Is essential to provide a rubric so students are able to complete a checklist of task throughout the project.
Example 2: Unit Exam - A test given at the end of a unit to measure everything they learned ONLY during those weeks.
