Characterization
Description of a character's actions, words, or thoughts to reveal their personality.
Students will read, The Rose That Grew from Concrete byTupac Shakur
Activity #3: Students will analyze the words in the poem and highlight words that helped them determine the character's personality.
As a team, they will discuss what they felt when reading the poem.
Imagery
Activity #1: Look at the photo displayed and in a team of 5/6 minimum, create a concept map using a technology tool of your choice to describe what you imagine (hear, sight, smell, taste, touch).

Assessment
Individual Project: Students will write a draft poem using the information they have learned in this lesson.
Team Project: Once they have completed the task, they will work together to create a mini poetry book using a technology-based program of their choice.
