Summative
Definition: Summative Assessment is use to evaluate student learning at the end of an instructional unit by comparing it against some standard of benchmark. This assessment it high stakes, which means they have a high point value.
Midterm exam: An exam given near the middle of an academic grading term. They measure student's grasp of the course materials and identify areas that meed work.
Final Paper A paper written by students to assess what the student has learned over the course span.
Performance
Definition: An assessment that requires students to perform a task rather than regular test or answering questions.
Portfolios Are collections of student work representing a selection of performance. It may contain student 's best pieces and the students evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of the pieces.
Debate Teaches students about varied viewpoints and opinions. Students can create a half circle facing another and debate a topic.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: A form of assessment use to evaluate where students are in their learning progress, determine if students are on track to performing well on future assessments.

Definition: A form of pre-assessment where teachers can evaluate students strengths, weakness, knowledge, and skills before the instruction.

KWL Chart: A graphic organizer designed to help in learning. KWL is an acronym for K-What students already know, W- what the student whats to learn, and L- what was learned.

Definition: Formative assessment refers to the process of gathering evidence of student learning, it provides feedback and allows for adjusting instruction strategies to enhance achievement.
Exit Ticket: Assigned at the end of the day, it requires students to demonstrate something they have learned or to process some part of the days lesson.
