Formative
Definition: Formative assessment is the process of gathering evidence of student learning, providing students with feedback, adjusting the instructional strategies to create more achievement.
Turn & Talk: Students turn and talk to their table partner when given a prompt throughout the lesson.
Quickwrite Exit Ticket: Students will write for 1 minute in their journals answering the question, "What was 1 thing you learned from today's lesson?"
Performance
Definition: Performance assessments are assessments that require the students to perform tasks instead of answering questions.
Science Experiment: Students will create their own science experiment utilizing their knowledge of the scientific process.

Diagnostic
Defintion: Diagnostic assessments are pre-tests that are administered before beginning a topic. They are to determine a students strengths, weaknesses, and misconceptions prior to the lesson in order for the teacher to plan/adjust instruction as needed.
KWLA Chart: Students describe what they already know prior to the lesson, then what they want to know/learn, after the lesson they will describe what they have learned and how they will use it.
Entry Ticket: Students will complete an entry ticket prior to beginning the lesson in order to provide the teacher with an idea of what they already know prior to teaching the content.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Interim assessment is a form of assessment that is used to determine where students are in regard to their learning progress and evaluate if they are on the right track.
STAAR: Standardized test in Texas that is administered in order to assess students' knowledge that was learned/achieve within their grade level.
STARR 360 (GPISD District Assessments): Test that students take on their iPad to show student achievement in math and reading.
Summative
Definition: Summative assessments are utilized to evaluate student learning, skill acquisition, and academic achievement at the end of an instructional period.
Mid-Term Exams/Final Exams: Exams given at the end of the learning period to determine student knowledge.
Chapter Tests: Tests that student take after reading a chapter or learning the material within the chapter.
