Formative
This assessment is used for providing feedback and letting the teacher know how to adjust instruction within the teaching frame. This can be used to monitor the teacher's instructional approach and how students are grasping the content.

Summative
This is used to determine the outcomes of content taught. It is usually (but not always) at the end of a unit. It is used to determine achievement (in the next class, job, etc).
End of Unit Exam- The students show all their learning by completing a multiple choice test that covers all the content.
independent study projects-Projects that are created by students to complete a lesson and show their full understanding of the topic.
Interim/Benchmark
These assessments are used to see a midpoint of where students are and where they need to be in order to stay on track with the content they are expected to know.
EOC- End of Course testing to see if students are ready to be promoted to the next grade level, based on what they learned.

A diagnostic test is used to get background knowledge of what the learner already knows. It anticipates difficulties and progress that needs to be made within the subject area.

This type of assessment requires a response from a student that is original or student-created. This can be in multiple ways, but it shows how the student can apply the knowledge they learned.
Entry/Exit ticket: Students can display their ongoing understanding of a topic by completing a quick ticket on a question posed by the teacher regarding the topic.
Kahoot/Socrative- The students complete a interactive activity that determines how much they are grasping the content in the classroom.
