Performance
Definition: Performance assessments measure how well a student can apply their academic knowledge, skills and abilities to authentic problems.
Experiment: Students will conduct their own experiment in which directly reflects their understanding of a lesson or unit.
Drawing: Students will be asked to draw a representation using their knowledge, skills and abilities.
Formative
Definition: Formative assessment is a way to monitor student learning so that the teachers and students can use the feedback given by this assessment in order to progress in learning and teaching.
Dry-Erase Practice: Students will be given two-step equations to complete on their whiteboards during class to show the teacher their work and their answer.
Exit Ticket: Students will be asked to describe how to solve two-step equations then turn them into the teacher once finished.
Interim/ Benchmark
Definition: Interim/Benchmark assessments are used to evaluate if students have met specific standards and addresses whether students are ready to move onto the next level academically.
STAAR Test: Students will take the STAAR test at the end of the year in order for the state of Texas to evaluate if standards have been met for that grade-level.
End of Course Exams: Students will take EOC exams to assess if students have met the required standards for that specific grade-level and are ready to achieve a higher level of academic skills.
Diagnostic
Definition: Diagnostic assessments are pre-assessments used to determine student achievement gaps and other academic abilities. This can help teachers adjust instruction based on student's academic abilities.

Informal Quiz: Students will take an informal quiz that will not affect their grade but rather show important strengths and weaknesses.
Summative
Definition: Summative assessments evaluate student learning after a unit. It is often compared to specific standards or a benchmark.
Final Project: This project can be used to assess how students can put their new knowledge together after a single unit.
Semester Exams: These exams can be used to assess what students have learned throughout the whole semester.
