Formative
Definition: A formative assessment is the process of gathering evidence from feedback given by the students. Teachers can then adjust instruction depending on the feedback provided from the students.
Think, Pair, and Share: Students will participate in an activity where they are given an essential question to think about. They will then have to pair up with a peer and discuss with them an answer to the question. After sharing with their peer, the whole class will participate in a discussion.
Padlet Exit Ticket: Students will answer a prompt at the end of class that allows them to reflect on the lesson or lessons they have gone over.
Performance
Definition: A performance assessment is form of assessment that requires the student to perform certain tasks that will measure their knowledge and skills of the material.
Presentation: requires students to plan, research, discuss, and present their findings to the class and instructor over a given topic. Students will be graded through a specific rubric that reflects the different aspects of their presentation.
Portfolio: a compilation of student work that demonstrates their progress and accomplishments throughout a given period.
Summative
Definition: Summative assessments are used to evaluate student mastery of an instructional unit by comparing it to a standard or benchmark.
Final Project: Created to reflect how much of a student has learned through a given semester or school year.

Interim/Benchmark
Definition: An interim/benchmark is an assessment used to evaluate students in their progress to figure out if the students will be able to do well in other end-of-course exams or state standardized tests.
Chapter Exams:Exams given to students to determine whether they have mastered the content after every chapter or unit.
Extended Essay: a structured essay where the student chooses the topic from a collection of different presented material.
Diagnostic
Definition: A diagnostics assessments is a form of pre-assessment that teacher use to help evaluate what are student's strengths and weaknesses.
KWL Charts: Used to help establish what a student Knows and Wants to know before the lesson starts. The student then reflect after the lesson to fill out the last column of what they Learned.
Pre-Tests: is a non-graded assessment that is presented prior to a unit to determine what could be some area to focus instruction.
