Assessments
Formative: They are administered to assess students' progress toward meeting a learning objective so teachers can adjust instruction as needed. Since they are just used to monitor students learning they typically are worth little to no points. :

Interim/Benchmark: These assessments are done throughout the school year to guide instruction and monitor where students are in the learning process.

Benchmarks: Benchmarks are done periodically through the school year. They check to see where a student is in the learning process. They also are specific to grade level and content area.
Summative: They are used to gauge instruction by determining whether or not students mastered a learning objective. Summative assessment sums up students' performance on the learning objective
End of unit exam: Students are given a test at the end of the unit and graded to determine if they mastered the objective.
Midterm exam: Students will complete a midterm exam that summarizes all the material they have learned up to that point.
Performance:is a form of testing that requires students to perform a task rather than select an answer from a ready-made list.

Diagnostic: where teachers can evaluate students' strengths, weaknesses, knowledge and skills before their instruction.
Pre-assessment: Teachers can give a pre-assessment test before introducing a new concept. This will help the teacher to adjust instruction based on students understanding.
Running Record: Teachers can do a running record on a student to assess what reading level they are on for a guided reading group.
