Formative
Definition: Used to monitor student learning and provide feedback to modify or adjustment instruction.
Exit Ticket: Students will answer a question relating to the lesson learned before they leave class or move onto the next subject.

Diagnostic
Definition: Test that support teachers in identifying what student know and can do (strengths and weaknesses).
Running Records: Teachers use this over a guided reading book to track student's level of reading and fluency.
Word Journeys: Teacher will read out a list of grade sight words words while student has to write them.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: Test given multiple times throughout the school year to check student's understanding and guide future learning.
STAAR 360: In GPISD, students take this test on their iPads over math and science.
STAAR: Standardized test in Texas that is used to access students' knowledge learned over the year within their grade level (only students from grades 3 to 5).

Performance
Definition: Form of testing that requires students to perform a task rather than selecting an answer from a ready made list.

Presentation: Students will create a presentation over their learned knowledge and share it in front of class.
