Formative Assessments
Definition: Process of gathering evidence of student learning, providing feedback, and adjusting instruction strategies to enhance achievement
Ex. Observations in which you can help students identify their strengths and weaknesses as well as target areas that need work
Ex. Exit tickets such as a one question paper where the students answer the question in writing in reference to the main idea of the lesson

Diagnostic Assessments
Definition: Identifies student misconceptions prior to the lesson as well as identify student strengths and weaknesses to help plan instruction
Ex. A KWL chart can help identify what the student knows already about the topic, what they might want to know, and what they learned after the lesson is complete

Performance Assessments
Definition: This assessment is an act of performing curriculum rather than answering questions for tests and quizzes
Ex. Character body map in ELAR where the students create a body to represent the main character in their reading to identify important characteristics that go along with each body part
