Distribution Channel Analysis
Form of Distribution
Internet
Website
Having a running website allows me to have customers come to my website and see all of the services I offer
Having my prices also allows them to compare my prices to competitors and see that I'm the better option
Advertising
Running an advertisement for when a customer looks up doggy daycares allows them to see my company front and center
Owned facility
Signs
Having signs outside my business is free advertisement
Having them want to call or ask for more opens up the possibility that I can acquire their business
Stop in any time
Offering for customers to come in and ask questions whenever allows them to see that I am available and personable
This increases the chance that they'll choose me over the competitor
Target Customers
Dog owners
Any dog owners
All dogs are welcome at the daycare so this allows me to target all dogs
I'm not targeting cat owners, so this decreases my market
Dogs that need special attention
Dogs who need medication during the day
Dogs who need medication for conditions, and instead of the owner leaving work or worrying about the dog having their medicine, I can administer it
Behavior problems
Puppies especially have problems chewing on furniture and bladder issues. This leads to the house being destroyed but instead of locking them into a kennel all day, they can get all their energy out at doggy daycare
Separation anxiety
Some dogs cannot handle being alone during the day so when the owners at work, they freak out. Instead of medication, they can come to doggy daycare
Handicapped or special needs that cannot be left alone
Dogs in wheelchairs or elderly that can't eat on their own, I can take care of with the owners instructions. This allows the owner to be at work worry free
Value Proposition
To outdo my competitors, I want to offer more services that some don't
Carpooling
I would pick the dog up for daycare and drop them off afterwards
This helps especially busy owners who may not have time to get their dog to daycare or are running late in the mornings
24/7 availability
I would make myself available for customers in case of emergencies
Examples of an emergency would be a car accident, sickness, unexpected travel or any situation where the owner cannot promptly care for the dog
Accept all breeds
I will accept all breeds including breeds on the aggressive dog breed list
I do not believe in the list and do not associate any breed with born aggression, it's about training
My german shepherd has been denied daycare because of her breed so I am stopping this with my business
Because I'll accept all breeds, dogs will have to be separated by size and temperaments to lower risk of fights or injuries
Intermediaries?
Possibly
Groomer
A service I want to offer for my business is grooming, but I am not licensed myself so I would hire a groomer to do this
Offering grooming services twice a month will increase my revenue and bring people in that are not coming for doggy daycare, but for grooming
Homemade treats
If I don't have time to make the homemade treats, I can buy some from a person who sells them already
Selling homemade treats for my business will be another revenue stream for me that is not already included with the doggy daycare
Do myself
Homemade treats
If I have time, making the homemade treats myself will save me the cost of going to an intermediary
This is an important cost to save when I'm first starting up and do not have a lot of disposable income
Offering different services and products is a great way to bring money into my beginning business
