Nervous regulatory systems - Coggle Diagram
Nervous regulatory systems
Sensory receptors
sense stimuli and convert into electrical response
neurones - sensory nerve celles transmit impulses
Central nervous system
brain and spinal cord
nerves and receptors
appropriate response transmitted through feedback mechanisms
input via sensory mechanisms
effectors
muscles and glands
bring appropriate action
impulses sent by neruones to effectors
nervous and endocrine systems
hormonal systems that work together
nervous system contains nerones that transmit necessary info via signalling impulses
impulses can be transmitted very fast across broad distances to and from target tissue
difference between nervous and endocrine is that nervous targets specific cells whereas endocrine can broadcast to cells everywhere
Hypothalamus
central to homeostatic mechanisms (processes)
links nervous system to endocrine by the pituitary gland
synthesises and secretes hormones
sends impulses to posterior pituitary
