Visualizing Stereotypes, Prejudice and Racism
According to the video, “Intersectionality is a way of understanding social relations by examining intersecting forms of discrimination” (Hopkins, 2018).
There are many oppressive problems in life. When multiple oppressions appear on one person at the same time, intersectionality can help to understand and solve the problems better.

-Immigrants, Refugees and Gypsy Populations
According to Janney, “The underlying belief is that these people ‘are not from here,’ and are thus viewed as ‘the other’ and inferior” (2018, para. 4).
-Age Prejudice
People discriminate against people of certain ages and think that they are not trustworthy or can’t make meaningful contributions.
-Sexual Orientation Prejudice
According to Janney, it is a “stereotype that all LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender) people are a certain way and thus inferior” (2018, para. 6).
-Class Prejudice
According to Janney, “Classism is the belief or attitude that those of a certain economic class are inferior to another class” (2018, para. 7).
-Disability Prejudice
According to Janney, “Ableism refers to the belief that those with physical or mental disabilities or handicaps are inferior to able-bodied people” (2018, para. 8).
-In the video, the child says that “I don’t wanna be your friend because I have white skin and you have black skin” (CNN, 2012, 05:54).
-By answering the question why the white doll is pretty, according to the child, “he is white” (DixonFuller2011, 2012, 00:42).
