The Terms of the Treaty
Territorial losses
The treaty removed 13% of German territory and all of Germanys overseas territories which was given to the league of nations - e.g. Alsace-Lorraine was given back to France - Because of this Germany lost 75% of its iron ore 26% of its coal and 15% of its arable land
The Rhineland
was demilitarised and an allied army was placed there to make sure Germany stuck to the treaty
War guilt
Under Article 231 Germany had to accept the responsibility of starting the war this made them liable to pay reparations which ended up being 6.6 billion
The Saarland
this area that was enriched with coal was put under the control of the league of nations for 15 years supplying France, England and Belgium for free
Disarmament of germany
German army was limited to 100,000 ( weren't allowed to use gas or tanks) - no more than 15,000 navy men ( six battleships but no submarines, small number of costal defence) - no air force
Other
Austria was forbidden from uniting with Germany - Germany wasn't allowed to join the league of nations - The Kaiser and other Germans were to be put on Trial

The war had ended with an armistice agreement on the
11th of November 1918
- the allied powers met in
January 1919
- Germany were not allowed to see the terms of the treaty until the
7th of May
- on the
16th of June
the allies gave Germany
7 days
to accept the treaty, this led to a political crisis in Berlin and a new coalition government - on the
28th of June
the treaty was signed
