6 Leadership Styles
Coercive Style "Do as I say":check:: Effective
- crisis situation, kick start a turnaround situation, dealing with problem employee, when try to achieve immediate compliance
:green_cross: Ineffective
- people become resentful, loss motivation, loss commitment, disillusioned
Authoritative Style "Come with me!"
clear goal but empower people to choose own means:check: leader provide vision and enthusiasm
- show how people work, people believe their work has mean and purpose, success standard & performance are clear
:green_cross: not good for inexperienced leader
- can undermine effective team
Affiliative Style "People come first!"
Try to build strong emotional bond into strong loyalty to keep people happy among them:check: work well bcs team are harmony, trust & communicate
- does not impose unnecessary rules and structure
:green_cross: Not work when people need some structure or direction
- over-caring and over-nurturing approach create perception that mediocrity is tolerated
Democrtaic Style "What do you think?"
Try to get other's ideas; build trust, respect, commitment:check: When leader needs buy-in, consensus, gain valuable input from others
- Higher moral, realistic idea
:green_cross: Not work in a crisis when team no competence or experience to offer sound advice
Pacesetting Style "Do as I do, now!"
Set high standard & obsess to do better and faster
:check: In situation require quick result from high motivated, self directed & competent team
:green_cross: people may lose energy
Coaching style "Try this!"
Help people identify unique strength, weakness to reach goals. Powerful to improve performance :check:good at challlenge people
- effective when people are willing to be coached
:green_cross: Least effective
- when people resistant to change
- when leader lack knowledge, capability, desire to be coach

Model The Way
:black_flag: A leader's behavior wins respect, not title or position
:black_flag: Find his own voice based on his personal values and beliefs, but what he do is often more important than what he say
:black_flag: Modelling the way sets an example of what the leader expects from others and gives the leader the right to lead others
Inspire a Vision
:lock: This leader have exciting vision or dream that acts as a force to ignite a passion for what the future could be
:lock: The vision should inspire people so that they become committed to a purpose by understanding needs, interest and language and engaging in dialogue not monologue
Challenge the Process
:pencil2: This leaders venture out and accept challenges not the status quo by they look for new opportunities to innovate, grow and improve
:pencil2: Does not create, develop, or come up with new products, services or process;
- They are good listener recognize good idea, support idea, challenge process to make ideas happen
- Minimize risk failure for others & make people safe and comfort in taking risk
Enable Others to Act
:star: Get others act by encourage collaboration and build trust among stakeholders

:star: People should motivated and empowered to do best, feel sense of ownership, take pride what they do

:star: Leader must turn his followers into leaders themselves

- celebration should not be lame
